Mobile App Delivery & Platform Manager

Welcome Break Support Centre, Newport Pagnell, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, MK16 9EZ

Competitive salary plus fantastic benefits, discounts and bonus scheme

Established in 1992, Applegreen is a leading convenience roadside retailer in the Republic of Ireland, the UK and the US in both large-scale Motorway Service Areas and Travel Plazas, as well as smaller petrol stations. The business has grown to over €4BN in annual revenue, operating 430 Motorway Service Plazas and forecourt sites internationally and employing over 17,000 people.

Applegreen is undertaking significant digital transformation to facilitate ambitious growth plans. To help drive momentum and deliver results, we are seeking to onboard a Mobile App Technology Manager. We are looking for someone to oversee the delivery of a new mobile app for our global customers. Working closely with our Commercial/Marketing digital team, this person will oversee the end-to-end delivery of the mobile app, ensuring alignment between business objectives, customer experience and technical implementation. They will play a key role in translating product and marketing requirements into structured technology initiatives, managing delivery through internal teams and external partners.

Later, this person will manage the ongoing performance, support and optimisation of the mobile app ecosystem, including oversight of technical support, vendor relationships and continuous release cycles. They will play a key role in the continuous delivery of our Digital Technology Centre of Excellence.

This permanent role reporting to the Head of Digital and AI Technologies can be based in the UK, within commutable distance to our Milton Keynes office or in Dublin. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across the IT team and with other functions across the organisation.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of mobile app technologies, delivery methodologies and service management and will have experience working within either/or retail and hospitality businesses.

Key Responsibilities

As Applegreen evolves the responsibilities of this role may change over time. The core responsibilities will centre around the following areas:

  • Solution Ownership & Delivery Oversight: Own the end-to-end technology solution for the mobile app, ensuring it is well-designed, scalable and aligned to business requirements, architectural standards and operational needs, without owning backlog prioritisation.
  • Partnership with Commercial/Product Teams: Work closely with Product Owners and Marketing teams to interpret prioritised requirements, shaping them into clear, deliverable technology solutions without owning backlog prioritisation.
  • Technology Selection & Platform Strategy: Evaluate and recommend appropriate mobile technologies, platforms and tools, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable and aligned to Applegreen’s broader technology strategy.
  • Architecture & Design Collaboration: Partner with Enterprise Architecture to define and validate solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, integrations and long-term technical direction.
  • Vendor & Delivery Partner Management: Manage third-party development partners and platform providers, ensuring quality of delivery and adherence to agreed standards and outcomes.
  • Integration & Ecosystem Coordination: Oversee integration of the mobile app with backend systems (e.g. payments, loyalty, CRM, APIs), ensuring reliability, performance and data integrity across the technology landscape.
  • Technical Support & Service Management: Own the technical support model for the mobile app, including incident management, issue resolution and coordination across vendors and internal IT teams (excluding end-user support).
  • Quality Assurance & Release Governance: Ensure robust testing, validation and release processes are in place, maintaining high standards of app performance, stability and compliance across platforms.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Define and track key technical and product performance metrics (e.g. uptime, latency, downloads, engagement), providing insights to inform ongoing improvements.
  • Risk, Security & Compliance Management: Identify and manage risks related to mobile technologies, including data privacy, platform compliance (e.g. App Store standards) and security considerations, partnering with InfoSec and Risk teams to mitigate potential challenges.
  • Continuous Improvement & Optimisation: Monitor live performance and user behaviour to identify opportunities for optimisation, working with stakeholders to enhance functionality, reliability and user experience.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
