Mobile App Tech Lead (React Native) – iOS & Android
Contract | Remote | Outside IR35
£700–750 per day | ASAP start
A well-established, globally prestigious organisation is looking for a Mobile App Tech Lead to own the technical direction of its React Native application across iOS and Android, with the platform potentially extending to WeChat in future.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll set the architecture, define engineering standards, and make sure everything shipped is secure, scalable and built to last. You'll also oversee external delivery partners, reviewing their solutions and holding the line on technical quality and risk.
What you'll be doing:
- Owning mobile architecture, integration and engineering governance end to end
- Setting technical direction and ensuring solutions are secure, scalable and maintainable
- Reviewing external vendor delivery: solution quality, technical risk, and output
- Working with internal backend and platform teams to define API contracts, agree dependencies, and resolve blockers
- Leading technical discovery and feasibility work alongside Product Owners, BAs and designers
- Mentoring engineers and running code reviews
- Defining the mobile testing strategy and test automation approach
- Representing the mobile product in technical governance and planning forums

What we're looking for:
- Proven experience leading the architecture and delivery of React Native apps across iOS and Android, including integration with enterprise platforms and APIs
- Strong technical leadership: setting architecture, defining engineering standards, mentoring developers, owning code quality and governance
- Experience managing delivery across internal teams and external partners, including solution reviews, risk management and release planning
- Confident stakeholder management: able to translate business requirements into scalable solutions and communicate trade-offs and risks clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
