Mobile Building Engineer

Location: HMP Wealstun, Wetherby LS23 7AZ + West Yorkshire travel

Salary: £30,231 + £525 per additional skill (up to 6, maximum base salary of £33,381)

Hours: 39; between 08:00–17:00 (1 in 4 weekends + 15% allowance)

Extras: Van, fuel card + call-out rota


Mobile role with variety, stability, and real job security

Looking for a solid, long-term role where your trade skills are valued? This is a hands-on mobile position covering around 6 sites across West Yorkshire, based out of HMP Wealstun.

You’ll be out on the road, fixing, maintaining, and keeping sites running safely — not stuck in one place.

What you’ll be doing

  • Planned and reactive maintenance across multiple sites
  • General building maintenance + compliance checks
  • Supporting critical systems (fire, water, electrical basics)
  • Following site safety and security procedures
  • Taking part in on-call + weekend rota
  • Acting as Authorised Person (AP) (training provided)

What you’ll need

  • Full UK driving licence
  • NVQ / trade qualification (or solid experience)
  • Able to work on your own and manage your workload
  • Basic understanding of compliance and safety

Experience in any of these is advantageous:

  • Fire doors / extinguishers / alarms
  • Emergency lighting
  • RCD testing
  • Water temp checks
