About This Role

Are you an experienced Mobile HGV Engineer, Field Service Engineer, or Plant Technician looking for a role where you can take ownership of your day and put your technical skills to good use? As a Mobile Engineer with Dawsongroup EMC, you will maintain and repair our specialist municipal and utilities equipment in the field, responding to breakdowns and service requirements while delivering the high standards our customers rely on.

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults across a varied fleet of specialist equipment.
  • Carry out planned maintenance, PMI inspections, and both minor and major repairs.
  • Work safely at all times, following SHEQ procedures, completing risk assessments, and challenging unsafe behavior.
  • Complete accurate electronic job records using a PDA and keep reports up to date.
  • Manage your own workload and vehicle stock while working closely with colleagues, supervisors, and our service desk.

About You

You will bring previous hands-on engineering experience, with the confidence to diagnose faults and deliver quality repairs with a right first-time mindset. You do not need to know every Dawsongroup EMC asset from day one, but relevant Plant or HGV experience and a willingness to develop your product knowledge will give you a strong foundation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

  • Previous experience working with diesel engines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Practical electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Confidence using plant or fleet diagnostic equipment and communicating effectively with colleagues and customers.
  • A Class 2 HGV licence would be desirable, but is not essential.
