This role will also be responsible for providing technical governance across engineering teams and overseeing key aspects of programme delivery, vendor management, and stakeholder engagement.

As a technical leader, you will provide people leadership, engineering direction, and deep technical expertise while remaining actively engaged in the delivery of software solutions. You will work closely with engineering teams to design, develop, test, troubleshoot, deploy, document, and support the software and systems that power customer-facing applications, business applications, and internal tools.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a balance of technical excellence, leadership capability, operational discipline, and delivery focus.

The Ideal Leader Will Be

  • Proactive, enthusiastic, flexible, and results-driven.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn new technologies, maximizing their value and potential within the organization.
  • An effective collaborator and communicator who can build strong relationships across technical and non-technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

Software Engineering

  • Remain a hands-on engineering leader with expertise in developing complex, large-scale enterprise applications.
  • Own the technical direction and engineering delivery of the Mobile Service Layer (BFF) and associated platform capabilities.
  • Take responsibility for technical aspects of software engineering across assigned applications, including solution design, prototyping, architecture reviews, and software development.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Technical Product Managers, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to deliver platform enhancements and strategic initiatives.
  • Establish and uphold engineering best practices across teams, including code reviews, testing standards, build and release processes, technical governance, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Enable teams to automate demand-driven, scalable deployments across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
  • Apply deep technical knowledge and industry best practices to identify complex problems, evaluate trade-offs, and recommend effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to define technical roadmaps, implementation strategies, platform standards, and software maturity improvements.
  • Drive engineering excellence through quality-focused development practices, automation, observability, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable software solutions are delivered consistently.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
