Our Building Services Division

Our Building Services division provides complete Facilities Management of properties throughout the UK, providing mechanical and electrical engineering support, cleaning, catering and grounds maintenance on a planned and reactive basis, using technological solutions to manage our teams in the most efficient ways.

Role: Mobile Handyperson

We are looking for a Mobile Handyperson to join the team on our Kent County Council contract. The purpose of the role will be to carry out ad hoc Reactive Maintenance & Scheduled redecoration works. The role will also encompass Small Works and emergency procedures as required and inclusion in the out of hours call. You would report directly to the Ad hoc Supervisor.

This is a mobile role covering different locations throughout Kent so a full clean driving license is essential.

As The Mobile Handyperson, You Will

  • Carry out general carpentry repairs to fabric associated works (such as but not limited to; non fire related doors, door frames, handles, wall patch repairs, decking, fences, fence posts, blinds, fittings & fixtures, all over timber constructions).
  • Complete Painting & Decorating tasks.
  • Install shelves, pictures and noticeboards, dispensers.
  • Carry out replacement and installation of locks.
  • Have a Self-motivated ‘can do’ attitude which is required to work within the current mobile team.
  • Complete labouring duties including furniture churn as required.
  • Seasonal gritting to the estate as directed by the gritting plan within working hours, this may be required out of hours due to weather conditions.
  • Semi-skilled tasks if required as directed by Operations Manager or Supervisor (Helpdesk issued).
  • Ensure maintenance & inspection records are completed and submitted on a timely basis using the mobile app and CAFM system.
  • As and when required, provide assistance with other PPM and extra work requirements in adherence to set engineering standards in accordance with HASWA requirements.
  • Work with other professionals within and outside fabric specialism.
  • Participate in overtime on an ad-hoc basis.

We Are Looking For

  • Previous experience in building fabric maintenance / or hold relevant qualification which meets the criteria of the roles description.
  • Willingness to develop and learn.
  • Ability to provide efficient management and organisation of workload to ensure effective completion is achieved on time.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and be proactive whilst working across the estates buildings in reporting health and safety issues to the SHEQ team.
  • General IT Skills and operating a mobile phone is essential.
  • Good Communication skills and an ability to create trust.
