Role Description

The Mobile Plant Fitter is a full-time, on-site role based in Blackburn. The role involves carrying out routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a range of mobile plant and machinery used in haulage, waste processing, and civil contracting operations. Day-to-day tasks include:

The Mobile Plant Fitter will travel between sites as required, maintain accurate service records, and coordinate with operations staff to minimize downtime. The role also includes:

  • Responding to breakdowns
  • Performing preventative maintenance
  • Following all health, safety, and environmental procedures

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical maintenance and repair skills for mobile plant, heavy machinery, and related equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose faults, conduct inspections, and perform preventative maintenance using appropriate tools and methods.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices, safe working procedures, and relevant industry regulations.
  • Experience working in waste management, construction, civil contracting, or a similar industrial environment is beneficial.
  • Relevant technical or vocational qualification in mechanical engineering, plant maintenance, or a related discipline.
  • Competent in reading technical manuals, service documentation, and maintaining accurate maintenance records.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between local sites as required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, reliability, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
