Express Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with a leading UK engineering firm. Due to continued business growth, our client is seeking an experienced Mobile Fitter to join their field service engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mobile Plant Fitter to work across a range of piling equipment and associated plant machinery, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance both on site and within workshop environments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the manufacture, modification, maintenance and repair of piling equipment and ancillaries, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required company standards.

Due to the mobile nature of the role, regular travel to work sites will be required, with very occasional overnight stays depending on project requirements. A company van will be provided and must be maintained in a clean, safe and roadworthy condition.

In return, you will earn up to c£21.58 per hour, depending on experience. What’s more, you will receive 5% employer pension, access to AXA Healthcare scheme, overtime opportunities, profit share scheme, 30 days holiday (including stats) and the opportunity for an annual bonus scheme (non-contractual).

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Complete planned and reactive maintenance on piling equipment and associated ancillaries
  • Carry out maintenance and repair tasks in accordance with verbal and written instructions
  • Use appropriate hand and power tools to complete mechanical and engineering tasks
  • Apply suitable processes and techniques to manufacture, modify, maintain and repair equipment
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical information
  • Attend customer and operational sites to carry out maintenance and repair works
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are accurately recorded in line with departmental requirements
  • Keep the company van clean, stocked and roadworthy, ensuring all required tools, spares and consumables are available
  • Maintain suitable personal protective equipment, equipment and administration on the van to support breakdowns and overnight stays
  • Work closely with Workshop, Fabrication, Piling Operations, Ground Investigation, Transport and other internal departments
  • Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures and relevant standards
  • Undertake training and development as required to support the role
  • Follow all company health and safety policies, procedures and site requirements
  • Report any injuries, strains, illnesses, hazards or unsafe working practices in accordance with company procedures
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure appropriate PPE and equipment are used at all times

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience working as a Mobile Fitter, Plant Fitter, Mechanical Fitter or similar engineering role
  • Holder of NVQ Level 3 Diploma or equivalent in Plant Maintenance essential
  • Experience within the construction, piling, plant or heavy engineering sector desirable
  • Strong mechanical fitting and maintenance skills
  • Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively when working on customer and operational sites
  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach when representing the company on site
  • Full UK Driving Licence essential
  • Willingness to travel to different work sites and undertake occasional overnight stays
