Role Description
The Mobile Plant Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in Blackburn, responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing a range of mobile plant and equipment used in civil engineering and highway maintenance projects.

- Diagnosing mechanical and hydraulic faults
- Carrying out routine inspections
- Performing scheduled and reactive maintenance
- Ensuring all plant operates safely and efficiently
- Maintaining accurate service records
- Supporting site teams with technical advice
- Adhering to health and safety procedures and company policies
- May be required to travel between local sites as needed
- Respond to breakdowns promptly
- Collaborate with supervisors and operators to minimise downtime
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical and hydraulic maintenance skills for mobile plant and heavy equipment, including fault finding and repair
- Practical experience in servicing construction or civil engineering plant, with the ability to work safely on-site and in workshop environments
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations, safe systems of work, and risk assessment in an operational environment
- Ability to read technical manuals, interpret engineering drawings, and use diagnostic tools and equipment effectively
- Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a site-based team
- Relevant trade qualification or apprenticeship in plant maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Valid UK driving licence, with flexibility to travel to local project sites and respond to breakdowns when required
- Previous experience in civil engineering, highway maintenance, or similar contracting environments is advantageous
