About The Role
Location: Longley Lane, Manchester
Salary: £32,048.98 per annum / £15.95 per hour
Working a 4 On 4 Off shift pattern
Start/finish times: 10.5 hours per shift in Winter, between 07.45 hrs-18:15 hrs, then 12.5 hours per shift in Summer between 07.45 hrs-20:15 hrs.
Working 38.5 hours per week - Monday to Sunday
Full Driver's Licence required
Full PPE provided
What Will I Be Doing?
You will be assisting in the daily supervision, operation, and maintenance of Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC), ensuring compliance with waste management permit requirements, contractual obligations, and prevailing legislation and Company policies.
The Role Involves
- A flexible approach is required
- Full driving license is required, and own transport is preferable
- Providing excellent levels of customer service, advising and assisting members of the public on how to use the site to maximize recovery of materials they are depositing
- Maintaining accurate records for the removal of materials from the site
- Controlling the exchange of containers by booking loads with the relevant person, thus ensuring the site always has space to segregate and store material correctly
- Maintaining a tidy site within his/her areas of responsibility
- Ensuring SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety, and welfare of its employees and of other people who may be affected by his/her actions or omissions
- Co-operating with SUEZ and with other employees in order to comply with the site permit, comply with all applicable legislation, and SUEZ Policies and Procedures
- Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job-role

What Are the Requirements?
- HWRC Operations and knowledge of materials, both hazardous and non-hazardous
- Knowledge of environmental permits, working plans, emergency procedures, company health and safety policies, duty of care regulations, and COSHH
- Communication skills, both written and oral
- Excellent leadership skills
- Basic financial awareness
- Assertive training techniques to deal with difficult customers
- Plan and progress tasks using own initiative
- Motivate public and staff to recycle
- Working in adverse weather conditions
- Literacy, numeracy, and clerical skills

- Ideally, some prior mobile plant use is desirable, but full training will be given
