Mobile Responder - Building Services & Maintenance – 3 Month Contract

Location: Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff, South Glamorgan, CF10 4UW

Rate: £18.30 per hour (Umbrella)

Contract: 3 Month Contract

Hours: Full Time

Working Pattern: 24/7 Service Operation – Shift Work Required

Pay: Bi-weekly

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Mobile Responder to join our dynamic Building Services & Maintenance team, providing essential support for a 24/7 frontline service throughout Cardiff. This role involves a variety of hands-on tasks, including addressing maintenance issues, managing building-related incidents, and responding to emergencies across various council properties. Your efforts will be crucial in maintaining the safety, security, and functionality of these buildings, ensuring excellent service delivery to users and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, ready to work a rotating shift schedule that includes evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.

  • Address urgent maintenance requests and respond to emergency call-outs.
  • Manage incidents related to building operations across the property portfolio.
  • Perform basic repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure properties are safe, secure, and fully operational.
  • Conduct inspections to identify maintenance needs.
  • Document completed work and maintain precise records.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, building users, and internal teams.
  • Assist with planned maintenance programs as necessary.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety protocols and safe working practices.
  • Deliver a professional and customer-oriented service consistently.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in Building Maintenance, Facilities Management, Property Services, Caretaking, or a related field.
  • Ability to remain composed and effective in emergency situations.
  • Strong practical maintenance and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Capability to work independently and exercise initiative.
  • Solid understanding of Health & Safety standards.
  • Flexibility regarding working hours and shift patterns.
  • Competence in collaborating within a 24/7 operational team.

Desirable

  • Experience in Local Authority or Public Sector settings.
  • Qualifications in Facilities Management or Building Maintenance.
  • Background in mobile or responsive maintenance roles.
  • Training in First Aid or Health & Safety.
