Protecting Critical Response Vehicles Across the UK

Are you an experienced Heavy Vehicle Technician looking for a role where your work directly supports critical emergency response operations? At Terberg DTS, you'll work on a specialist fleet of Fire Vehicles, Ground Support Equipment (GSE), and associated manufacturer products, ensuring they remain operational and ready when needed most.
As a Mobile Engineer Heavy Vehicle Technician – Fire Division, you'll work independently across customer sites, carrying out servicing, inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and accident damage assessments while delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining the highest safety standards.
No two days are the same, and every job plays a vital role in keeping essential equipment operational.
What You'll Be Doing
- Servicing, maintaining and repairing Fire Vehicles, GSE equipment and other specialist vehicles at customer locations.
- Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults using modern diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
- Carrying out vehicle inspections and identifying worn, damaged or defective components.
- Undertaking accident damage assessments and producing detailed reports for repair recommendations.
- Completing repairs safely, efficiently and in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company Safe Systems of Work.
- Working independently while maintaining exceptional safety, quality and customer service standards.
- Completing service documentation, worksheets and reports accurately and on time.
- Managing vehicle stock inventory and ensuring parts are accounted for correctly.
- Obtaining customer sign-off and purchase orders upon completion of work where required.
- Maintaining company equipment, tools, diagnostic equipment, laptops and vehicles in a safe, secure and presentable condition.
- Supporting apprentices through mentoring and on-the-job training.
- Building strong working relationships with customers and colleagues across the business.
- Participating in a planned out-of-hours call-out rota to provide customer support when required.
- Travelling and occasionally working away from home when business needs require.

What You'll Bring
- City & Guilds Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualification (or equivalent).
- Significant experience diagnosing and repairing heavy vehicles and specialist equipment.
- Strong auto-electrical fault-finding experience using electronic diagnostic systems.
- Experience working on HGVs, emergency service vehicles, specialist vehicles, plant equipment or similar.
- Knowledge of modern vehicle diagnostic systems and repair techniques.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- A flexible approach with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Full UK Driving Licence. HGV Licence (desirable).
