Job Title: Mobile Service Engineer
Reports to: Field Operations Manager
Location: Mobile – UK-Wide (Multi-Locational) Extensive travel and regular overnight stays required
About the Role
The Mobile Service Engineer will undertake a variety of routine servicing, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on:
- Distribution Tractors
- Ro-Ro Tractors
- A range of sea port equipment
- Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE only)
- Other manufacturers’ products
This role is multi-locational, requiring the engineer to travel across the UK to support business and customer needs. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting visual and operational checks to identify worn, faulty, or incorrectly adjusted parts.
- Using technical manuals, diagnostic techniques, and specialist test equipment to repair defective components, systems, or machinery.
- Producing accurate written reports for accident-damaged equipment.
- Working independently without direct supervision, adhering to company, customer site, and statutory Health & Safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent Terberg DTS Service Department professionally, showcasing high standards in appearance, manner, and technical ability.
- Follow oral/customer instructions or work order directives to complete assignments to the required standard.
- Develop and implement practical repair and maintenance techniques, ensuring correct safety measures (including eye protection and suitable clothing).
- Record customer sign-off (including purchase order numbers) to confirm completion of work.
- Carry out administrative and inventory procedures (vehicle parts stock, accounting of components).
- Ensure manufacturer’s instructions and Safe System of Work procedures are followed.
- Comply with current road traffic law (e.g., speed limits, vehicle weight restrictions, driver’s hours).
- Attend required training/seminars and maintain company equipment in a clean, safe, and secure manner.
- Use mobile phones in line with current legislation.
- Collaborate across all departments, including projects.
- Be prepared for additional/higher operational duties, including unsociable hours and on-call shifts at rural/off-site locations.
- Undertake any assignment-based tasks essential to business fulfillment.

Qualifications & Experience
- City & Guilds Level 3 – Vehicle Mechanical and Electronic Systems: Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualification.
- Substantial experience in Auto Electrician fault diagnosis and repairs, covering heavy goods/specialist vehicles.
- Must possess:
- UK valid driving licence.
