£20.54 per hour basic

£23.02 per hour overtime

£27.05 per hour weekend rest-day rate

Additional enhanced rates for nights and bank holidays

Job Description

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Mobile PSV Technician / Engineer to join the engineering team of a major passenger transport operator in the North East.

This is a mobile position where you will provide engineering support across the operator's fleet and locations, helping to keep vehicles safe, compliant and available for service.

The role offers flexible Monday-to-Friday working, a minimum of 38 hours per week and excellent opportunities to increase earnings through overtime, weekend work and enhanced-rate shifts.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on PSV vehicles
  • Attending vehicle breakdowns and engineering call-outs when required
  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
  • Completing mobile repairs and rectification work
  • Carrying out vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Identifying worn or defective components
  • Ensuring Vehicles Meet Required DVSA And Company Standards
  • Completing all relevant engineering paperwork and maintenance records
  • Working independently while supporting depot-based engineering teams
  • Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety and workmanship

Desired Skills And Experience

To be considered for this position, you should have:

  • City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
  • Previous PSV, bus, coach or heavy commercial vehicle maintenance experience
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • The ability to carry out repairs independently in a mobile environment
  • Good knowledge of vehicle inspection and maintenance procedures
  • A full UK driving licence
  • A PCV driving licence would be advantageous but is not essential.

Experience working within a bus or coach engineering environment would be particularly beneficial, although experienced HGV Technicians looking to move into the PSV sector will also be considered.

PAY AND HOURS

  • Basic Rate: £20.54 per hour
  • Overtime Rate: £23.02 per hour
  • Weekend Rest-Day Rate: £27.05 per hour

Additional enhanced rates are available for night work, bank holidays and other qualifying shifts.
