About the Role

SunCore Digital is seeking a Mobile QA Engineer, Flutter to own hands-on testing of our Flutter-based mobile applications across supported Android and iOS devices.

This role will focus on mobile functionality, device compatibility, application lifecycle behavior, API integration, synchronization, connectivity, and mobile regression testing.

You will work under the direction of the Senior QA Engineer / Quality Lead and collaborate closely with mobile developers, backend engineers, the Web and Backend QA Engineer, UI/UX, and platform engineering.

Responsibilities

Flutter mobile application testing

  • Test Flutter applications across supported Android and iOS versions.
  • Validate functionality on physical devices, emulators, simulators, and device-cloud services where appropriate.
  • Perform functional, exploratory, regression, integration, and end-to-end mobile testing.
  • Test navigation, forms, notifications, permissions, authentication, data display, and user workflows.
  • Validate behavior across different screen sizes, orientations, resolutions, and device capabilities.
  • Identify device-specific and operating-system-specific defects.
  • Verify release and debug builds where appropriate.

Mobile lifecycle and operating-system behavior

  • Test application startup, shutdown, backgrounding, resuming, and termination.
  • Validate behavior after device restart, application update, or application reinstall.
  • Test session expiration and token refresh.
  • Validate deep links, push notifications, and operating-system permissions where used.
  • Test storage access, camera access, location access, file handling, or other device features where applicable.
  • Confirm that sensitive information is not exposed through logs, notifications, screenshots, or local storage.
  • Validate battery, memory, and general responsiveness concerns during normal internal use.

Connectivity and synchronization

  • Test mobile behavior under strong, weak, intermittent, and unavailable network conditions.
  • Validate retries, timeouts, duplicate submissions, and interrupted workflows.
  • Test synchronization between the mobile application and backend services.
  • Confirm that delayed or repeated requests do not create duplicate or inconsistent records.
  • Validate conflict handling when the same data is changed from multiple locations.
  • Test recovery after network restoration.
  • Confirm that errors are visible and actionable rather than silently ignored.

API and backend compatibility

  • Validate mobile API requests and responses.
  • Confirm compatibility when APIs or backend behavior change.
  • Work with mobile and backend developers to identify contract mismatches.
  • Test authentication, authorization, data isolation, and permission behavior from the mobile client.
  • Confirm that client-side restrictions are also enforced by backend services.
  • Coordinate with the Web and Backend QA Engineer on shared services and data.
  • Verify that web and mobile display consistent information when they use the same source data.

Mobile regression and release validation

  • Create and maintain the mobile regression suite.
  • Maintain a supported-device and operating-system coverage matrix.
  • Perform release-candidate smoke and regression testing.
  • Validate installation, update, configuration, and launch behavior.
  • Test critical mobile workflows before internal distribution or public release.
  • Record which devices, operating systems, and application versions were tested.
  • Report known compatibility gaps and untested combinations.
  • Support app-store readiness and release validation when required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Mobile automation

  • Evaluate and implement appropriate Flutter and mobile automation.
  • Develop and maintain selected high-value mobile automated tests.
  • Use Flutter testing capabilities and tools such as Appium, Patrol, Maestro, or equivalent where appropriate.
  • Work with mobile developers on widget, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Integrate mobile tests into CI/CD where practical and reliable.
  • Investigate mobile automation failures and identify flaky tests.
  • Recommend which mobile workflows should remain manual due to device or operating-system complexity.

The Mobile QA Engineer is not expected to automate every device and workflow.

Defect management

  • Report mobile defects with:
    • Device model
    • Operating-system version
    • Application version
    • Network condition
    • Reproduction steps
    • Expected behavior
    • Actual behavior
    • Screenshots, recordings, or logs where appropriate
  • Distinguish application defects from device, operating-system, environment, or backend failures.
  • Validate mobile fixes and related regressions.
  • Escalate crashes, data loss, permission failures, security concerns, and blocked critical workflows.
  • Monitor recurring mobile defect patterns.

Collaboration

  • Review mobile requirements and acceptance criteria before implementation.
  • Work directly with mobile developers to improve testability and diagnostics.
  • Coordinate with the Web and Backend QA Engineer on shared workflows and APIs.
  • Work with UI/UX on mobile interaction, responsiveness, accessibility, and design consistency.
  • Work with platform and DevOps engineers on mobile build and test execution.
  • Communicate quality status, device coverage, and blockers to the Senior QA.

Responsibility Boundaries

The Mobile QA Engineer owns day-to-day mobile testing and mobile release regression.

The role does not solely own:

  • Backend/API correctness
  • Unit and widget tests written by mobile developers
  • All mobile automation
  • Performance and load testing of backend services
  • Security assessment
  • App-store product decisions
  • Final release approval
  • Web application testing
  • Defining business requirements

Mobile developers remain responsible for testing their own code, including unit, widget, and integration tests. The Senior QA owns overall quality strategy and release-readiness assessment.

Required Qualifications

  • At least three years of professional mobile QA or software-testing experience.
  • Hands-on experience testing Flutter applications.
  • Experience testing both Android and iOS applications.
  • Strong knowledge of mobile functional, exploratory, regression, and integration testing.
  • Experience testing across multiple devices, operating-system versions, and screen sizes.
  • Experience testing mobile API integration and data synchronization.
  • Experience testing under weak or intermittent network conditions.
  • Experience documenting device-specific and reproducible defects.
  • Familiarity with mobile logs, debugging tools, and network inspection.
  • Experience maintaining a mobile device and operating-system coverage matrix.
  • Strong written communication and documentation.
  • Ability to work closely with mobile and backend engineers.
