Greenhalgh's Craft Bakery is a proud family-run business that has been baking fresh, handcrafted products since 1957. With over 70 years of tradition, we operate a successful network of retail shops, wholesale customers and our popular fleet of mobile sandwich vans, delivering fresh food directly to workplaces and communities across the North West.
As our Mobile Van business continues to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and commercially minded Senior Sales Supervisor to support the Mobile Van Sales Manager in leading our successful operation.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys leading people, improving performance and delivering exceptional customer service within a fast-paced food retail environment.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Mobile Van Sales Manager, you will assist with the day-to-day management of our fleet of mobile sandwich vans and support a team of approximately 14 mobile sales staff.
You will play a key role in motivating the team, driving sales growth, maintaining exceptional food safety standards and ensuring our mobile operation continues to provide outstanding customer service.
This is a varied role combining leadership, sales development, operational management and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Support the Mobile Van Sales Manager with the daily operation of the department.
- Assist in managing, motivating and developing a team of approximately 14 Mobile Van Sales staff.
- Lead by example, promoting excellent customer service and professionalism.
- Conduct regular one-to-one meetings and performance reviews.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding and training of new team members.
- Provide holiday and sickness cover where required.
- Help create a positive, motivated and supportive working environment.

Sales & Business Development
- Support the team in achieving daily, weekly and monthly sales targets.
- Coach team members on sales techniques and customer engagement.
- Analyse van sales performance and identify opportunities for growth.
- Review existing van rounds and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and increase revenue.
- Develop new customer routes and identify new trading opportunities.
- Encourage upselling and product promotions.
- Work alongside Marketing and Product Development to trial new products and seasonal ranges.
- Monitor competitor activity and identify new business opportunities.
Operational Management
- Assist with planning daily van operations.
- Ensure vans are stocked appropriately to maximise sales while reducing waste.
- Monitor stock levels and availability.
- Assist in coordinating vehicle maintenance and servicing schedules.
- Help manage staffing rotas and holiday planning.
- Support transport planning where required.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Conduct regular audits across the Mobile Van fleet.
- Ensure all vans remain compliant with Food Hygiene Regulations and Environmental Health requirements.
- Monitor food temperatures, stock rotation and product traceability.
- Ensure cleaning schedules are completed to company standards.
- Maintain accurate compliance documentation.
- Promote best practice in food safety at all times.
Customer Service
- Build excellent relationships with regular customers.
- Assist with resolving customer concerns professionally.
- Ensure consistently high standards of presentation across all vans.
- Work to continually improve customer satisfaction and retention.

Reporting & Administration
- Produce sales reports and KPI updates.
- Monitor daily sales figures and identify trends.
- Assist with cash reconciliation and stock reporting.
- Support the Mobile Van Sales Manager with departmental administration.
- Ensure accurate record keeping across the department.

Essential Requirements
- Previous supervisory or management experience.
- Experience within retail, food retail, hospitality or mobile catering.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work flexibly where required.
Desirable
- Level 2 or Level 3 Food Safety Certificate.
- Experience managing KPIs and sales targets.
- Experience within a mobile food or sandwich van operation.
- Knowledge of Environmental Health regulations.
- Experience using EPOS or stock management systems.
