Mobile Vehicle Mechanic
Location: AN09 Crawley & Guildford
Contract: Full-time, permanent
£52,782 to £55,419 guaranteed earnings, plus up to £2,000 performance bonus

As an AA Mobile Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll carry out servicing, diagnostics and repairs at customers’ homes or workplaces, with the tools, technology and support you need to do a great job.
Your earnings
We want to make the pay simple and clear from the start.
Pay within the advertised range will depend on qualification level and experience.
- Level 2 Mobile Mechanic: £52,782 guaranteed earnings
- Level 3 Mobile Mechanic: £55,419 guaranteed earnings
Plus: the opportunity to earn up to a further £2,000 each year through our performance incentive scheme
Additional: first-year bonus of £2,000
And your working day starts and finishes on your driveway. That means you’re paid from the moment you get into your AA van until you arrive back home at the end of your shift.
Your working week
You’ll work 49 hours over five days, with shifts between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Saturday. You’ll typically work 1 in 2 Saturdays.
You get the independence of a mobile role, while still having the backing, tools and support of one of the UK’s best-known motoring organisations.

- carry out vehicle servicing and repairs at customers’ homes or workplaces
- diagnose faults where appropriate
- use your technical knowledge to identify problems and find the right solution
- explain repairs and technical information clearly to customers
- manage your day and scheduled jobs independently
- deliver the high standard of workmanship and customer service people expect from the AA

What do I need?
For the Level 2 role, you’ll need an NVQ Level 2 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or an accepted equivalent, alongside strong vehicle servicing and repair experience.
For the Level 3 role, you’ll need an NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or an accepted equivalent, alongside strong diagnostics, servicing and repair experience.
For all candidates
You’ll Also Need
- relevant experience working as a mechanic in a workshop, dealership or mobile environment
- a full manual UK Category B driving licence with no more than six points
- flexibility to work the advertised rota, including Saturdays
- a professional, customer-focused approach

Guaranteed earnings range from £52,782 to £55,419. The range comprises a contractual base salary of £48,089 to £50,689, plus a Mobile Mechanic supplement of £987 to £1,024 and a location allowance of £3,706. The £2,000 sign-on bonus is subject to eligibility criteria and scheme terms. The opportunity to earn up to a further £2,000 each year is through the performance incentive scheme and is not guaranteed. Incentive earnings depend on performance and scheme rules.
