Mobile Mechanic (40 hrs)
Location: AN46 Leicester & Northampton
Contract: Full time, permanent
Salary: £38,307 to £40,270 guaranteed year 1 earnings, inclusive of allowances, with opportunity to earn up to £6,000 in incentives and overtime

As an AA Mobile Mechanic, you’ll carry out servicing, diagnostics and repairs at customers’ homes or workplaces, with the tools, technology and support you need to do a great job.
Your earnings
We want to make the pay simple and clear from the start.
Pay within the advertised range will depend on qualification level and experience.
- Level 2 Mobile Mechanic: Guaranteed year 1 earnings of £38,307 inclusive of allowances, with opportunity to earn up to £6,000 in incentives and overtime*
- Level 3 Mobile Mechanic: Guaranteed year 1 earnings of £40,270 inclusive of allowances, with opportunity to earn up to £6,000 in incentives and overtime*
And your working day starts and finishes on your driveway. That means you’re paid from the moment you get into your AA van until you arrive back home at the end of your shift.
Job Description
You’ll work 40 hours over five days, with shifts between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Saturday. You’ll typically work 1 in 2 Saturdays.
You get the independence of a mobile role, while still having the backing, tools and support of one of the UK’s best known motoring organisations.
What you’ll be doing
This is hands on vehicle servicing and repair, delivered directly to the customer. You’ll:
- carry out vehicle servicing and repairs at customers’ homes or workplaces
- attend booked appointments and breakdowns across your local area
- carry out inspections, diagnostics, servicing, brake replacement and on the spot repairs
- use your technical knowledge to identify problems and find the right solution
- explain diagnostics, repairs and technical information clearly so customers feel confident and informed
- manage your day and scheduled jobs independently across multiple locations and environments
- represent the AA as a trusted expert and reassuring presence for our members
- take ownership of your local area, building relationships and creating opportunities to grow demand
- deliver the high standard of workmanship and customer service people expect from the AA

You’ll have a fully equipped company van, uniform, boots, industry leading tools, training and ongoing support to help you do your best work wherever the job takes you.
Qualifications
For the Level 2 role, you’ll need an NVQ Level 2 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or an accepted equivalent, alongside strong vehicle servicing and repair experience.
For the Level 3 role, you’ll need an NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or an accepted equivalent, alongside strong diagnostics, servicing and repair experience.
For all candidates
You’ll also need:
- relevant experience working as a mechanic in a workshop, dealership or mobile environment
- a full UK Category B driving licence with no more than six points
- flexibility to work the advertised rota, including Saturdays
- a professional, customer focused approach
