MOD Business Development and Contracts Director

We have an opportunity for an MOD Business Development and Contracts Director to join the team at Cooneen Defence, S. England and Fivemiletown on a permanent basis. The successful person will secure new sales within the MOD and directing the contracts team to successfully deliver all existing Defence contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Managing 2-3 direct reports.
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend new Sales opportunities in MOD / Leidos.
  • Set, agree and achieve detailed annual sales and margin targets for all contracts and new opportunities.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of contract management plans for each contract held.
  • Ensure the implementation of robust controls to manage stock levels and avoid any write-downs.
  • Work collaboratively with other Depts to ensure retention plans are in place in a timely fashion to rewin all contracts.
  • Ensure adequate resources and processes are in place to ensure all contractual SLA’s and KPI’s are met.
  • Remain within your O/H budget.
  • Establish and maintain excellent Customer communication and relationships.
  • Determine how Market opportunities will be developed.
  • Work closely with supporting departments to robustly qualify any opportunities to ensure tender success.
  • Identify Marketing requirements to support successful sales plans.
  • Maximise efficiency by supporting and implementing ‘Lean’ principles in your department.
  • Promote and develop the development of the Cooneen ‘Values’ in your department and across the group.
  • Observe all Company Rules, Standard Operating Procedures and Company Policies particularly in relation to Health and Safety, Harassment, Disciplinary and ICT Security.

Requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Significant experience at a senior contract and sales level.
  • Proven track record in building and developing a team to consistently achieve sales and profit targets in a multi-million-pound business.
  • International sales development exposure.
  • Proven track record in the development and delivery of a strategic sales plan to achieve sales growth.
  • Technical capability related to the Defence, Aerospace or Personal Protective Equipment markets.
  • Experience in the building excellent customer relationships.
  • Third level qualification, for example degree/technical qualification OR significant experience gained in a similar role.
  • Competent in the use of MS Office to include word, excel and powerPoint.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience in clothing industry, defence or protection markets.
  • Proven track record in public procurement tenders.
  • Fluent in languages other than English.
  • Educated to A 'level or equivalent.
