Job purpose

This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic individuals to join an organisation that recognises talent and encourages personal development.

As part of Inverclyde Council’s ‘Inverclyde Works’ recruitment and training drive, we are inviting applications for our Modern Apprentice (MA) Programme for Inverclyde residents aged between 16 – 24 years with a keen interest in working within a horticulture environment. (The age range increases to up to 29 years for Inverclyde residents who have a disability and/or are care experienced*).

Role details

The successful applicant will be employed on a fixed term 2 year contract, working 37 hours per week, and will work towards attainment of the SCQF Level 5 and Level 6 Greenkeeping or Landscaping qualification and will be expected to comply with all health and safety requirements and attend all development training as required. Apprentices will be paid the Real Living Wage with a current annual salary of £25,877.

What will I learn?

This is a work-based qualification, and you will undertake a job role which allows you to provide the required evidence in a working environment to successfully achieve the qualification.

Your supervisor will work with you to develop key skills such as working in teams, problem solving, communication and using IT.

There will be visits from your Training Provider Assessor, who will ensure that you undertake the full training programme both at college and on site.

This qualification is delivered through college attendance as well as on-going assessment in the workplace.

What qualifications or qualities are required?

Applicants must have a good standard of education and be willing to commit to meeting agreed timescales and targets in relation to attaining the SCQF Level 5 and 6 qualification within 2 years. In addition, you must be willing to work towards the necessary training and qualifications required to undertake the duties of your post.
