Location: Aberdeen

Duration: Permanent

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 37.5hrs

To demonstrate the energy, commitment, and motivation to learn and carry out all aspects of this hands-on role, whilst developing their communication skills to fully integrate with the Warehouse Team. The role will assist the efficient and effective operation of the receipts, storage, maintenance, cycle count, preparation for shipment, and inventory functions.

Roles & Responsibilities

General

  • Receiving and Inspecting Goods:
    • Assist in receiving and inspecting incoming shipments.
    • Check for damaged or missing items.
    • Verify the accuracy of received goods against purchase orders.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records.
    • Participate in regular stock checks and cycle counts.
    • Report discrepancies and work on resolving them.
  • Storage and Organisation:
    • Help organise and store goods in designated locations.
    • Ensure that items are stored in a way that prevents damage and allows for easy retrieval.
    • Assist in maintaining a clean and organised warehouse space.
  • Order Picking and Packing:
    • Learn the process of picking items from the warehouse to fulfill customer orders.
    • Assist in packing and preparing orders for shipment.
    • Ensure that orders are accurate and well-packaged.
  • Material Handling:
    • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks (after appropriate training and certification).
    • Follow safety protocols for handling and moving goods within the warehouse.
  • Shipping and Receiving:
    • Assist in preparing goods for outbound shipments.
    • Coordinate with carriers for timely deliveries.
    • Ensure proper documentation for outgoing shipments.
  • Quality Control:
    • Participate in quality control processes to ensure the integrity of stored goods.
    • Report any quality issues or defects promptly.
  • Communication:
    • Communicate effectively with team members and other departments.
    • Report any issues or concerns to supervisors promptly.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures.
    • Follow company policies and procedures related to warehouse operations.
    • Comply with health and safety regulations.

Role Profile

Training and Development:

  • Actively participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Seek guidance and clarification as needed from experienced team members.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including shipping and receiving documentation.
  • Generate reports related to inventory levels and movement.

Problem Solving:

  • Assist in identifying and resolving issues related to inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, or other warehouse challenges.

It's important to note that these responsibilities are for a trainee, and as the individual gains experience and expertise, they may take on additional responsibilities and potentially move into a more demanding role within the warehouse.

Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and in writing.
  • Computer literate across the Microsoft Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organising skills.
  • Solutions based, motivated to achieve the highest standards of performance and customer support, maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

  • In partnership with the HSSEQ department, ensure the continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance and compliance to all laws, regulations, and industry standards/codes.
  • Reports all incidents or breaches of policy or regulations to the line manager.
  • Fully endorse the ASCO 'Stop the Job' policy and commitment to proactive intervention where an unsafe act or condition is observed.
