We are seeking an experienced Modern Workplace engineer to join our team reporting into the Service Delivery Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on experience in the cloud and end user compute space to be a part of Smiths News’ modern workplace journey.

About the Role

  • Technical Escalation: Act as the primary point of contact for resolving high-level technical issues and escalations related to Microsoft 365, Azure services, Intune compliance, and other modern workplace technologies.
  • Project Involvement: Participate in IT projects related to modern workplace enhancements, migrations, and new technology rollouts.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest in Microsoft technologies and best practices for modern workplace environments, continuously improving processes and team capabilities.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud infrastructure, including diagrams and procedures
  • Monitor system compliance and ensure optimal operation of end user compute
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot and resolve Azure/365 incidents and projects
  • Be a member of the onshore presence for office-based users

About you

  • Understanding of networking concepts and protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S)
  • Knowledge and experience using modern device management (Intune) and cloud services (Azure)
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Azure Fundamentals, Windows 10/11 certifications, ITIL Foundation, or equivalent.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
