Company Description
The Western Chimpanzee Regional Alliance is dedicated to the conservation of the critically endangered western chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes verus), which faces significant threats including habitat loss, poaching, and climate change. The Alliance operates as part of the IUCN Section on Great Apes (SGA) and coordinates the implementation of the Western Chimpanzee Regional Action Plan (WCAP) by supporting initiatives, sharing knowledge, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders in West Africa. Role Description
The Monitoring, Evaluation & Strategic Partnerships (MESP) Specialist will design and manage practical Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) systems for the WCAP Alliance, supporting evidence-based decision-making, effective governance, and strategic resource mobilisation. The role will involve developing MEL tools and tracking systems, compiling and analysing programme data, and translating findings into clear reports and communications. The specialist will also support Alliance governance and documentation, identify strategic partners and funding opportunities, contribute to grant proposals, and strengthen relationships with donors and stakeholders across Anglophone and Francophone West Africa.

Qualifications
- Strong experience designing and implementing Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL/M&E) systems, including indicators, logframes, theories of change, data collection, and tracking tools.
- Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to synthesise quantitative and qualitative information into clear reports, briefs, and presentations.
- Experience contributing to fundraising, including grant proposals, concept notes, logframes, and budget narratives.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and revise governance and policy documents, such as Terms of Reference, mandates, guidance documents, and protocols.
- Relevant degree in conservation biology, environmental science, natural resource management, public policy, international relations, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in MEL/M&E, programme coordination, or programme management, preferably in conservation, development, or humanitarian contexts.
- Experience working in Africa or in multicultural, multi-country programmes.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and cross-cultural communication skills, with the ability to work independently across multiple countries and time zones.
- Fluency in English and professional working proficiency in French.
- Experience in West Africa, biodiversity conservation, donor relations, or multi-stakeholder governance is an advantage.
- Basic Portuguese proficiency and experience with great ape or wildlife conservation are additional assets.
