About The Role

Reporting to the Monitoring Systems Engineering team, the Monitoring Systems Technician plays a key role in the delivery of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and remote monitoring solutions across infrastructure, industrial and energy sector projects. This is a hands-on technical position, supporting the installation, commissioning and maintenance of advanced sensing and data acquisition systems both in the UK and internationally.

Working alongside experienced Monitoring Systems Engineers, you will gain valuable practical experience while developing your technical skills in a growing and innovative area of engineering. This role offers a clear progression pathway for individuals looking to build a long-term career within the industry.

Key Responsibilities

Installation and Support

  • Support engineers with the installation, commission and maintenance of monitoring systems on client sites.
  • Assisting the installation of sensors, cabling, data acquisition elements, communication systems and protective enclosures.
  • Preparing equipment, tools and material ready for on-site projects.
  • Support in system testing and basic fault-finding activities during installation and commissioning.
  • Ensure that all equipment is installed in accordance with project specifications and any relevant standards.

Technical and Project Delivery Support

  • Maintain accurate site records, project documentation and installation reports.
  • Support the preparation, organisation and management of monitoring system equipment and inventory.
  • Assist with routine maintenance, inspections and troubleshooting activities.
  • Follow procedures to ensure consistent project delivery.
  • Contribute to the successful completion of projects within agreed timeframes and relevant standards.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, project teams and clients to support project objectives.

  • Carry out all activities in accordance with company Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) policies and procedures.
  • Ensure quality documentation is completed accurately and maintained in line with project and company requirements.
  • Support risk assessments, safe systems of work and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Work safely in a variety of environments, including industrial facilities, infrastructure assets, working at height locations and confined spaces where appropriately trained.
  • Participate in audits, inspections and continuous improvement initiatives as required.

Travel and Site-Based Working

  • Travel to project locations throughout the UK and internationally as required.
  • Support site-based installation and commissioning activities, typically involving planned periods of less than two weeks away from home.

Requirements

About you:

  • A strong interest in engineering and electronics, as well as hands-on technical work.
  • An eagerness to build a long-term career in engineering, seeing the value in training and development to get there.
  • Background in engineering, electronics.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures accurately.
  • Comfortable working in site-based environments and varied working
