Cobham Montessori School is an independent Montessori setting that supports children’s holistic development through our programs for Children’s House (aged 2.5-6) and Elementary (6-11) learners, encouraging independence, curiosity, and respect for self, others, and the environment. Guided by AMI Montessori principles and pedagogy, Cobham Montessori School provides carefully prepared environments, individualised learning plans and a collaborative partnership with families. Guides work closely with children to foster academic growth, social-emotional skills, and a lifelong love of learning. The school values commitment to authentic Montessori practice, continuous improvement, and a warm, inclusive community for learners and staff alike.
Role Description
The Montessori Guide will join established Children’s House and/or Elementary communities, preparing and maintaining an authentic Montessori environment that supports self-directed learning. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Presenting Montessori materials
- Observing each child’s progress
- Planning follow-up lessons that meet individual developmental needs
The Guide will support children in building independence, concentration, and social skills, while promoting a culture of respect and inclusion. The role also includes:

This is a full-time, on-site role based in the vibrant village of Cobham, Surrey, requiring daily presence in the classroom and active participation in the school community.
Qualifications
- Formal Montessori training (Children’s House and/or Elementary) from a recognized Montessori organisation and experience guiding a Montessori classroom.
- Strong understanding of child development, classroom observation, and individualised lesson planning in a Montessori setting.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to create a calm, orderly, and engaging classroom environment that supports independence, responsibility, and respect.
- Commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory practices and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.
- Relevant teaching qualification or degree in education or a related field is highly beneficial.
- Experience in a school or early years setting, and familiarity with local educational standards and regulations, is an advantage.

Operating Hours
Our operating hours are from 8.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday. The school is open to the children from 8.30am to 3.15pm. The three school terms per year span 38 weeks approximately which includes inset/training days. Occasional additional days are also required for parent conferences or open days.
