Description

Morecambe Security Officer

We are looking for a full-time security guard in Morecambe.

Shift Patterns

  • Night shift patterns are 4 on 4 off.
  • The hours of the shifts are 20:00-6:30 am and 21:30-8:00 am.
  • There is a short period of lone working between 6:30 am and 7:30 am.

Pay Rate

  • £13 per hour.

Main Duties

  • Supervise people as they enter and exit the building in the reception area of the building. It is expected that you are logging times they were last seen and contacted on the handover.
  • Ensure contact with all young people within each 24-hour period. This could be in a number of different ways including face to face, phone call, message, or WhatsApp. It is vital this is recorded on the handover so we can monitor this.
  • Some of the young people at the service have a curfew. This is usually the case for our 16/17 Looked after children. We expect night staff to ensure that the young person has returned to the service on time.
  • When a young person has not returned and has missed their curfew and we are unable to contact them, it is expected that they are reported as a missing person/Absent from home to the police and to the social services out of hours emergency duty team.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the residents and support them with various needs whenever possible. This will include spending time talking to residents. In some instances, when a young person is in crisis, it may mean contacting relevant services to seek support in managing their wellbeing.
  • Record everything on the handover.
  • Manage visitors and overnight guests at the service. Ensuring that visitors leave at 11 PM. (Visiting hours 9 am-11 PM, 7 days a week).
  • Conduct building checks, safety checks (e.g., fire safety) and maintain a security log on an hourly basis recording when patrols have been conducted.
  • Monitor CCTV.
  • During each building check, it is expected that all fire doors around the building both inside and out are checked, are closed, and locked.
  • If there are any health and safety concerns that can be managed on site, e.g., overflowing bins, it is expected that night staff will intervene and deal with any hazard that may present.
  • Drug and Alcohol use are not permitted in the main building. If a young person is found to be using substances in the service, they are to be challenged and asked to remove it from the premises.
  • This information then needs to be logged and handed over to management as it impacts on the resident’s tenancy at the service.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
