Job Description

CNBC is looking for an exceptional business journalist to lead CNBC's flagship morning newsletter and the essential daily read for executives, investors, entrepreneurs and business decision-makers around the world.

This is more than a morning news roundup. Based in London, this journalist will produce an indispensable guide that helps readers start the day smarter, connecting developments across markets, companies, technology, geopolitics and the economy into a cohesive narrative. Every edition should answer the questions business leaders and investors are asking before the opening bell: What's happening? Why does it matter? What's coming next? It will also curate the best of CNBC by highlighting key insights from the network's reporting and previewing the day's most important interviews, analysis and live programming.

The ideal candidate is equal parts reporter, analyst and storyteller. They should possess exceptional news judgment, a deep understanding of global business and financial markets, and a proven ability to synthesize a fast-moving news cycle into compelling, highly readable journalism. They understand how to build a daily reading habit through newsletter writing and know how to develop a distinctive editorial voice that readers trust.

Success in this role requires close collaboration across CNBC's global newsroom. Working with teams in Europe, Asia and the United States, the Morning Business Newsletter Writer will surface the strongest reporting, identify the day's defining themes, and showcase the interviews, analysis and programming audiences can expect across CNBC's television, digital, video and social platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the editorial direction and daily production of CNBC's morning newsletter, delivering an indispensable morning guide for executives, investors and business leaders.
  • Prepare readers for the business day by explaining the stories, trends and market developments most likely to shape the global economy and financial markets.
  • Preview the day's most important earnings, economic reports, geopolitical developments, policy decisions and corporate news, explaining why they matter.
  • Highlight the key interviews, reporting and analysis audiences can expect across CNBC's television, digital, live and on-demand platforms.
  • Connect overnight developments from Asia, Europe and the United States into a clear, cohesive narrative that helps readers begin the day informed and ahead of the conversation.
  • Develop original reporting by cultivating relationships with executives, investors, economists, analysts and policymakers.
  • Write with a distinctive voice that builds reader loyalty and establishes the Executive Briefing as an essential daily habit for the global business community.
  • Collaborate closely with CNBC's television, digital video, social and editorial teams to surface the strongest reporting and insights from across the newsroom.
  • Use audience data and newsletter analytics to continually improve engagement, subscriber growth and reader retention.
  • Contribute enterprise reporting and analysis across CNBC's platforms as needed.
  • Work as a collaborative team player across all Versant News platforms.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
