Job Title

Sponsorship will not be available for this position, therefore 3+ years on visa eligibility to work in UK is essential.

About the Role

Our client, a highly respected Bank, is seeking a CeMAP-qualified mortgage professional with experience in UK retail banking and mortgage lending, including Buy-to-Let, bridging finance, and non-regulated mortgages to join their team on a 6 month contract.

The successful candidate should be able to manage the full lending lifecycle, demonstrate strong credit assessment skills, and build effective relationships with clients and key stakeholders. Sound judgement, attention to detail, a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, and a customer-focused approach are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Interview clients and guide them through the mortgage application process, ensuring accurate capture of personal and financial information.
  • Identify potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies to prevent mortgage defaults.
  • Prepare mortgage contracts and closing documentation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Internal and external stakeholders to expand the mortgage portfolio.
  • Implement loyalty lending strategies, engaging clients nearing the end of maturity periods, guiding them through product switches, and maintaining consistent follow-up to retain key customers.
  • Manage BTL loan portfolios, including drawdowns, rollovers, interest prepayments, further advances, and redemptions, maintaining accurate records.
  • Ensure compliance with mortgage regulations, privacy laws, and internal policies.
  • Participate in system upgrade and digital transformation projects to improve workflow efficiency, data accuracy, and service delivery.
  • Manage the drawdown process efficiently, ensuring proper documentation, compliance, and timely release of funds.
  • Guide clients through the mortgage application process, ensuring timely and accurate completion while adhering to the Bank’s risk and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor potential risks in the mortgage process, recommending improvements and best practices to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product requirements, Bank policies, and regulatory changes to ensure all mortgage activities remain compliant.

  • CEMAP qualification and a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area.
  • A minimum of ten years working experience in a UK Retail Bank or a Mortgage lending company.
  • Familiarity with Bank ware and our Mortgage Lending Module.
  • Working knowledge of banking services regulations.
  • Great analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information according to company policies and banking regulations.
  • Time management skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Great written and communication skills.
  • Experience interacting with – Introducers / Brokers, Sales agents, Solicitors / Conveyancers and Surveyors.
  • Strong Credit assessment / underwriting.
  • Strong customer service.
  • Strong Regulatory and compliance awareness.
