Role Description

The Mortgage and Protection Specialist is a full-time Self Employed role based in Southampton with a hybrid work arrangement, combining office presence with some work-from-home flexibility. In this role, the specialist will provide mortgage and protection advice to clients, assess individual financial circumstances, and recommend suitable residential and investment products. Day-to-day tasks include conducting client consultations, gathering and analyzing financial information, preparing mortgage and protection proposals, and managing applications through to completion. The specialist will maintain regular communication with clients, lenders, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth processing and timely updates. The role also involves staying current with market trends, regulatory requirements, and lender criteria, while contributing to business development and maintaining high standards of customer service.

  • Strong knowledge of Mortgages and Mortgage Lending, including residential and investment products.
  • Skills in Finance, with the ability to interpret financial information and provide sound, compliant advice.
  • Experience in Mortgage Marketing, including the ability to support client acquisition and communicate services effectively.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills, with a focus on building relationships, managing expectations, and delivering clear communication.
  • Relevant mortgage and protection advisory qualifications (e.g., CeMAP or equivalent) and experience in UK mortgage markets are ideal.
  • Strong attention to detail, ethical conduct, and familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance practices.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment, managing time effectively, and collaborating with team members both in-person and remotely.
