Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Mortgage Broker role based in Stockport. The Mortgage Broker will meet with clients to understand their financial circumstances, goals, and home ownership plans, and provide impartial advice on suitable mortgage products from across the market.

  • Assessing affordability
  • Preparing and submitting mortgage applications
  • Liaising with lenders, solicitors, and other stakeholders
  • Managing cases through to completion
  • Explaining complex information clearly
  • Supporting clients with remortgages and debt consolidation where appropriate
  • Maintaining accurate records and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Contributing to local marketing activities
  • Building relationships with referral partners
  • Upholding Firstmortgage’s high standards of customer service

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in Mortgage Brokerage, with experience as a Mortgage Broker or in a similar advisory role
  • Knowledge of Debt Consolidation solutions and the ability to assess their suitability and impact on clients’ financial situations
  • Understanding of Mortgage Marketing and Brokerage practices, including building and maintaining client and partner relationships
  • Solid foundation in Finance, including affordability assessments, credit profiles, and regulatory requirements in the UK mortgage market
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., CeMAP or equivalent) and eligibility to provide regulated mortgage advice
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and empathetically
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
  • Comfort working in an on-site advisory environment in Stockport and collaborating with a branch-based team
  • Proficiency with mortgage sourcing systems and standard office software; prior experience in a high-volume advisory setting is an advantage
