Mortgage Compliance Support Officer

Connect for Intermediaries | Hornchurch, Essex

Up to £30,000 per year | Full-time

Based at our Hornchurch office, with hybrid working considered depending on experience

Help advisers improve. Support better customer outcomes. Develop your compliance career.

At Connect, we’re increasingly using AI to support our mortgage and protection compliance reviews. This creates more opportunity for our compliance team to assess findings, apply practical judgement and help advisers understand how to improve their advice and documentation.

We’re looking for someone with relevant mortgage or financial-services compliance experience who enjoys investigating issues, explaining requirements clearly and working constructively with others.

You’ll join a supportive team where technology assists the review process and people provide the judgement, context and guidance.

What you’ll be doing

Working with our Compliance Manager and wider team, you will:

  • Assess AI-assisted compliance reviews against the underlying customer file, checking whether findings are accurate, relevant and supported by evidence.
  • Recognise when a finding needs further investigation or escalation, rather than accepting the system’s conclusions automatically.
  • Give advisers clear, practical feedback on gaps in their files, explanations or supporting documentation.
  • Coach and guide advisers on improvements, explaining both what needs to change and why it matters for the customer.
  • Follow up agreed actions and check that issues have been addressed.
  • Identify recurring themes and help the team develop guidance, examples and training that prevent repeat issues.
  • Maintain clear records of review outcomes, feedback and completed actions.
  • Support other compliance activities, including adviser onboarding, due diligence and routine queries.
  • Help improve our use of AI by highlighting inaccurate findings, missed issues and opportunities to refine the review process.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You will work within agreed responsibilities, with experienced colleagues available to support decisions and handle more complex matters.

What you’ll bring

Practical compliance-related experience within mortgages or financial services is essential. You do not need to have held a compliance job title, but you must be able to explain the checks, assessments or regulatory processes you have personally undertaken.

We’re looking for:

  • Experience reviewing customer files, assessing documentation, conducting quality checks or supporting regulated advice processes.
  • The ability to weigh evidence, spot inconsistencies and distinguish a genuine concern from a finding that needs more context.
  • Clear communication skills and confidence explaining improvements in a constructive, professional way.
  • An approachable manner, with the ability to support advisers while remaining clear about required standards.
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail, including following actions through to completion.
  • Confidence learning new systems and an interest in using AI thoughtfully, including checking its outputs.
  • The ability to attend our Hornchurch office regularly.

Mortgage or protection experience is particularly valuable. We will also consider applicants from other financial-services compliance backgrounds who can demonstrate transferable experience and a willingness to build their mortgage knowledge.

Experience giving feedback, supporting colleagues or coaching advisers would be an advantage. CeMAP, an ICA qualification or similar is welcome, but not essential.

General administration or accounting experience alone will not provide the practical foundation this role requires.
