Mortgage Planner - 12-Month Maternity Cover
First Time Finance · Fully Remote (with quarterly London team events) · £33,000 basic salary + quarterly bonus
About Us
First Time Finance is a specialist mortgage brokerage for visa holders and foreign nationals building their lives in the UK. The mortgage system wasn't built for people who've moved here - most high-street lenders simply turn them away. We're the people who say yes.
We've secured £150M+ in mortgages, helped 500+ families into their first UK home, and hold a 4.9-star Trustpilot record - and we do it with a level of care and support most brokers can't match.
We're now looking for a Mortgage Planner to join us on a 12-month maternity cover contract, working alongside our advisers to keep cases moving and clients genuinely looked after. For the right person, this is more than temporary cover - if you show us what you can do and excel over the 12 months, there's a strong chance the role could become a permanent, full-time position.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Role
You'll be the engine behind our advisers - researching options, building strong cases, and making sure every client feels supported from the very first step. Day to day you'll:
- Work closely with our advisers to research lender options and place cases with the right lender
- Review client documents and prepare packages to progress
- Complete full checks and income calculations
- Respond to early-stage client questions and help guide people through the start of their journey
What You'll Bring
- 2+ years in mortgage case management, planning or a similar role is required
- A full understanding of how lender criteria and income calculations work is required
- Previous advising or paraplanning experience (preferred, not essential)
- A warm, client-first manner - many of our clients have been told "no" elsewhere, so how we make them feel matters as much as what we arrange
- A "how could we make this work?" mindset - you look for the route to yes before settling for no
