Role overview

To provide a consistently effective, efficient, and highly professional service to all internal and external customers both before and after completion of both residential and commercial mortgage applications predominantly over the telephone. A key part of the role is to ensure that the mortgage applications are packaged correctly before presenting to a mortgage underwriter for underwriting and decision.

What you’ll do

  • Preparing, packaging, and processing new mortgage applications against the appropriate policies (valuation and lending) in preparation for underwriting and completion.
  • Undertake accuracy with the administration undertaken to protect the integrity of the data and maintain consistency across the core systems and produce accurate and relevant management information.
  • Build and maintain relationships and deal effectively with enquiries from internal customers, brokers, and external customers.
  • Deal with enquiries, problems, and complaints from internal and external customers.
  • Liaise with third parties as required to facilitate business and customer needs.
  • Escalate enquiries, problems, and complaints from internal and external customers.
  • Work flexibly within a cross functional team to ensure smooth delivery, communication, and administration.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of service, systems, procedure, and policy to ensure they reflect the core values, risk appetite and meet business requirements.
  • Undertake related activities (as required) to achieve efficiencies across our customer base.
  • Ensure the resilience of the important business service, mortgage funds release by promptly transferring cases to the relevant processing team, validating against any special conditions, and setting up completion details accurately and on time.

Knowledge and skills

What you know and what you can do

  • Mortgage products and processing systems.
  • An understanding of all Lending Policies.
  • Understanding of our valuation panel arrangements and the Valuation Policy.
  • Areas of conduct such as identifying and treatment of a Vulnerable Customer.
  • Understanding of how a Solicitor panel operates.
  • Knowledge and awareness of regulatory requirements e.g., MCoB, Land Law.
