Role Description

The Mortgage Specialist is a full-time, remote role responsible for guiding clients through the mortgage process from initial inquiry to closing. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Assessing client needs
  • Explaining mortgage products and terms
  • Collecting and verifying documentation
  • Coordinating with underwriting and closing teams
  • Preparing and reviewing applications
  • Ensuring compliance with lending regulations
  • Maintaining accurate records in internal systems
  • Following up with clients
  • Responding to questions in a timely manner
  • Providing clear, empathetic communication throughout the loan process

In collaboration with colleagues, the Mortgage Specialist may support basic mortgage marketing activities, such as sharing product information and assisting with outreach to potential clients.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Mortgages and Mortgage Lending, including loan products, application workflows, and regulatory considerations.
  • Skills in Mortgage Marketing to support outreach, product positioning, and communication with prospective borrowers.
  • Solid understanding of Finance, including credit fundamentals, interest rates, and affordability assessments.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills, with the ability to build trust, manage expectations, and communicate complex information clearly.
  • Relevant experience in mortgage or consumer lending, banking, or financial services is highly beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and proficiency with digital tools and CRM or loan origination systems are preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple cases simultaneously, and meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • A high school diploma is required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field is an asset.
