Position Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mosque Coordinator to join our Fundraising Department. The Mosque Coordinator will be responsible for developing and maximising income generated through mosques across the UK by building and maintaining strong relationships with mosque representatives, securing collection bookings throughout the year and during Ramadan, regularly networking through visits and communication, recruiting mosque volunteers, and promoting the Human Appeal brand. The role plays a key part in increasing fundraising income, strengthening community engagement, and raising awareness of Human Appeal's work.

Main Responsibilities

The Mosque Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • To wholly adhere/promote to the fundraising code of conduct, working within internal/external regulations/policies, to safeguard the charity, maintain public image, and ensure donations and trust.
  • Maximise fundraising income and awareness for HA year on year, via;
    • Managing and completing collections during Ramadan and all year round.
    • Maintaining frequent visits and communicating with mosque key stakeholders.
    • Creating a circle of mosque volunteers, and successfully utilising them.
  • Purpose: to generate enough funds to reach our beneficiaries and help the charity deliver its mission.
  • To manage booking and collections from Mosques (community centers and ISOCs and the likes) all year round, via management of the booking database, updating the Donor Management System, use of FR (fundraising) equipment, liaising with mosques in advance and planning collections, all to help maximize donations and maintain strong ties.
  • Maintain cash controls at all time (in line with financial security and risk mitigation) by;
    • maintaining logs,
    • use of proper equipment such as seal bags,
    • tracked receipts,
    • report discrepancies. All to safeguard the charity in line with proper finance protocols in order to prevent loss of donations and allow tracking and an audit trail.
  • Maintain security at all times by utilizing volunteers and FR resources to minimize risk, protect charity assets, and maximize donations.
  • To ensure feedback to Mosques by providing them with receipts, certificates and annual reports to help build trust, provide an audit trial, and secure future donations and relationship.
  • Updating HA database-DMS with Mosques, community centers and ISOC prayer halls, through data entry in a prompt and timely manner (in line with SLA). This helps minimize high-risk opportunities, and establish a proper/lean procedure, (risk Mitigation).
  • Being the main point of contact (HA ambassador) for the relationship between Mosques, ISOCs and HAI across the UK. This will involve negotiating agreements, co-coordinating events, providing assistance/branding materials and providing the Mosques Department with formal feedback as and when is required. Also Inviting/scouting high profile guest speakers/reciters from oversees to attend mosque events and increase HA profile and income. This helps to maintain trust, secure donations, increase brand, our reach, and awareness.
  • Management of volunteers and collaborating/supporting FR team, maintaining communication, meetings, sharing plan and schedules/resources, to optimize mosque operations and increase donations.
  • To work closely with the charity data process team/ finance team to ensure all donations are entered efficiently and in the most appropriate manner in the donor management system, and that Gift Aid is maximized

Candidate essential criteria

  • Ideally educated to Degree level (Minimum GCSEs in Maths and English)
  • Minimum of 2 years in a similar post
  • Knowledge of Islamic charitable giving e.g. Zakat, Qurbani, Waqf, Fitrana, Fidya
  • MS Office Suite
  • Excellent English verbal and written skills

Candidate desirable criteria

  • Additional Language e.g. French, Spanish, Urdu, Arabic
