MOT Tester

Location: Shoeburyness, Essex, SS3 9BN

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm (40 hours per week)

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Up to £35,000 per year (depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

About the Company

Our client is a well-established independent garage based in Shoeburyness, Southend-on-Sea, with over 50 years of experience in the automotive industry. They have built an excellent reputation for providing high-quality MOT testing, servicing, repairs, and exceptional customer service.

Due to continued growth, they are looking for a qualified MOT Tester to join their friendly and experienced workshop team.

The Role

As a MOT Tester, you will play a key role in ensuring customer vehicles meet all legal road safety and environmental standards. Working within a professional workshop, you will carry out MOT inspections efficiently while maintaining the highest levels of accuracy and customer care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out MOT tests in accordance with DVSA regulations
  • Identify and accurately report any vehicle defects or safety concerns
  • Complete all MOT documentation and records accurately
  • Ensure compliance with DVSA testing standards and company procedures
  • Liaise with colleagues regarding any repairs required following inspections
  • Maintain MOT testing equipment and keep the testing area clean, safe, and organised
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service and professionalism at all times
  • Follow all health and safety procedures within the workshop

Requirements

Essential

  • Valid MOT Tester Licence
  • Current MOT Testing qualification
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Previous experience working as an MOT Tester
  • Strong knowledge of DVSA MOT testing standards and regulations
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Fluent in spoken and written English

Desirable

  • Previous experience within an independent garage or busy workshop
  • Experience carrying out light servicing or basic vehicle maintenance
  • Minimum of 3 years' automotive industry experience
