Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based at Bicester MOT & Service Centre Ltd in Bicester, Oxfordshire. The MOT Tester will carry out Class 4 and 7 MOT tests in line with DVSA regulations, accurately recording results and advising on required repairs. Day-to-day responsibilities include ensuring test lane equipment is correctly maintained and calibrated, performing basic vehicle safety checks, and supporting the workshop team with routine servicing and mechanical work when required. The role also involves clear communication with customers regarding MOT outcomes, advisory notes, and potential safety issues, while maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach. The MOT Tester is expected to follow all health and safety procedures, uphold high standards of workmanship, and contribute to a structured, efficient workshop environment.

  • Valid DVSA-approved MOT Tester qualification (Class 4 and ideally Class 7) and current MOT testing license.
  • Recognized motor vehicle qualification (e.g., NVQ/City & Guilds Level 2 or 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent).
  • Strong practical experience in vehicle servicing, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs, including brakes, suspension, steering, and engine-related work.
  • Good understanding of MOT testing standards, DVSA regulations, and workshop health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work methodically with established processes, maintain accurate records, and use modern diagnostic and testing equipment.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, with a focus on customer service, transparency, and integrity.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, take accountability for own work, and support colleagues during busy periods.
  • Full UK driving license and a strong commitment to ongoing training and development in line with industry changes.
