Job Title: Motor Account Handler

Location: Bristol – Fully Office-Based

Salary: £25,000 - £27,000 (Depend on Experience)

About the Company:

A well-established, independent insurance broker with a strong presence in Bristol and clients across the UK, the business has built a strong reputation for arranging insurance across personal, commercial and specialist risks, particularly where a more tailored approach is required.

The broker combines longstanding insurer relationships with specialist knowledge across a range of niche markets; the business is continuing to grow, with ongoing office expansion support further recruitment and increasing client demand.

Role Summary:

An opportunity has arisen for a Motor Account Handler to join an established motor team, working across a varied mix of personal and commercial motor business.

A key part of the position will be taking ownership of an established insurance facility. You will have the opportunity to manually assess and trade risks, work across multiple insurers and products, and use delegated authority rather than relying solely on system-generated quotations.

As the facility develops, there is scope to make the scheme your own, support the growth of the wider team and progress towards a lead or management position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle a Varied Motor Portfolio: Work across personal, commercial and specialist motor risks, giving you broad exposure and the opportunity to strengthen your technical knowledge.
  • Manually Assess and Trade Risks: Use your own judgement when considering individual risks, allowing you to develop beyond purely system-led motor broking.
  • Manage Specialist Scheme Business: Take responsibility for driving-school and learner-driver risks, giving you ownership of an established and developing facility.
  • Work Across Multiple Markets: Compare insurers, products and available options to find appropriate solutions while building wider market knowledge.
  • Work with Delegated Authority: Make underwriting decisions within agreed parameters and further develop your technical motor underwriting experience.
  • Support Future Growth: Play a part in developing the facility and, as the team expands, have the opportunity to support junior colleagues and move towards a leadership role.

Requirements:

Essential

  • Strong experience within motor insurance, whether in broking, underwriting or account handling
  • Good technical understanding of motor risks and confidence assessing business independently
  • Experience manually trading risks and working across different insurers or products
  • A proactive and commercially minded approach, with the confidence to take ownership of a specialist facility
  • Willingness to work towards CII qualifications and continue developing technical knowledge
  • Comfortable working within a close-knit, fully office-based team environment

Desirable

  • Commercial, non-standard or specialist motor experience
  • Previous experience working within an insurance broker
  • Delegated authority or scheme underwriting exposure
  • Fleet insurance experience
  • Open GI experience
  • Experience supporting the development or growth of a specialist motor scheme
