Job Overview

We have exciting opportunities for Motor Claims Handlers to join our Commercial Claims department in Bolton. You’ll work in a busy team, helping customers over the phone by handling their queries and managing your own caseload of motor claims. You’ll have excellent communication skills and the ability to build great relationships based on integrity and trust. We’re looking for someone who strives to go the extra mile for our customers, taking a proactive approach and using all available resources to ensure the best possible outcome for them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of motor claims.
  • Investigate claims to make appropriate policy and legal liability decisions.
  • Communicate decisions to relevant parties, ensuring transparency and understanding.
  • Suggest and implement the best claims management methods, such as MOJ, Credit Hire, and current case law, to achieve a cost-effective settlement.
  • Build and maintain strong broker relationships.
  • Identify potential fraud and refer suspicious claims for investigation.
  • Update systems accurately with information.
  • Provide excellent customer service, treating customers fairly.

Work Arrangements

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events. We’re also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.

Working Hours & Shift Pattern

You’ll work full time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Induction & Training

Induction Date: October 2026

You’ll receive a comprehensive onsite induction from our specialist trainers to set you up for success in your new role. When you start, you’ll join an academy that will give you 12 weeks’ dedicated training to ensure you are fully supported which will be delivered onsite at our Bolton office. Once you demonstrate competency in your role, you’ll then transition to a hybrid working model.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Claims handling experience is essential (preferably within motor or property).
  • Sound negotiation skills and use of tactics in managing claims.
  • We’ll provide all the technology and training, and in return we ask you to bring your enthusiasm and passion for customer service.
  • You’ll have a natural talent for connecting with people, quick problem-solving ability and positive, can-do attitude.
  • You’re a great listener, confident communicating over the phone and using computers simultaneously.
  • Passionate about working as part of a collaborative team.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
