Our client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanic to join their fleet team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience with both hand tools and power tools. As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing and maintaining various types of vehicles, machinery, plant and equipment, to ensure optimal performance and safety.

This role is offered on a temporary basis, for a minimum of 4 months, potentially longer, with the opportunity of going permanent. Working days will be Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week. Two different shifts patterns.

A minimum pay rate of £16.86 per hour (potentially higher dependent upon experience) and with the opportunity for paid overtime.

Responsibilities Include

  • Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles, plant and machinery.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, brake repairs, and tyre rotations.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools and power tools.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards in all tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve processes and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Mechanic or in a similar role.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot various mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Relevant certifications or qualifications preferably City & Guilds/NVQ level 3 in Mechanics.
  • Fabrication skills, welding experience would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Cat B drivers licence/Cat C would be advantageous, as would Class 4&7 MOT Testers licence.
