Our team is based at our Head Office just outside The Peak District National Park off jct28 of the M1 corridor.
Position:
Great opportunity to join our Team on a fixed term contract until the end of December 2026 as Mountain Outfitters Assistant!
You will offer outstanding Rab and Lowe Alpine technical advice and support to customers at the Mountain Outfitters Factory Shop. Working with the Shop Manager and team, you will deliver outstanding levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service.
Hours are 39 per week, Tuesday to Saturday, to include one late shift on Tuesdays from 12 noon to 8:30 pm.
Key Responsibilities of Mountain Outfitters Assistant (including but not limited to):
- Answering questions and providing technical advice and support to customers on a wide range of products on the shop floor.
- Identifying customer needs and interests and presenting products that potentially match these requirements.
- Cross-selling customers into additional products that will work in conjunction with and enhance purchases.
- Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service.
- Maintaining outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standards.
- Effective stockroom management, ensuring efficient replenishment and stock control procedures.
- Helping administer sales, product returns, and warranties (exchange, credit).
- Liaison between customers and our Birchwood based Service Centre regarding repairs.

Requirements:
To join us as Mountain Outfitters Assistant, you must have:
Essential
- Outdoor Experience – you will be active in the outdoors and have a thorough understanding of how Outdoor Clothing affects your comfort/performance in the outdoors depending on the weather and activity being participated in. You will be able to talk about clothing and pack systems with conviction and be able to use real-life experiences to help guide customers into making an informed purchase.
- Customer focused.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, helpful, confident, and engaging personality.
- The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment to tight deadlines, with the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as use own initiative.

Desirable
- Experience of using an EPOS system.
- Proven work experience in either Outdoor or Fashion Retail.
- Basic administration skills.
- Experience of using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Previous experience dealing with warranty returns.

- Salary £27,276.60 per annum pro rata, commensurate with qualifications, skills, and experience.
