Job Title: MRI Services Operational Lead

Location: Cromwell Hospital, 164-178 Cromwell Road, London SW5 0TU

Contract: Permanent

Salary range: Competitive, plus Bupa benefits.

Full time/part time: Full Time, 37.50 hours per week

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, highly motivated MRI professional with a passion for operational excellence to join the Cromwell Hospital as our MRI Services Operational Lead.


About The Cromwell Hospital

The Cromwell Hospital is a major international private hospital in West London providing care to both UK and international patients. We are committed to providing the highest quality healthcare outpatient and inpatient service care.

The hospital has 180 beds and 4 suites, outpatients, theatres, medical and surgical wards, cardiac centre (new cath lab), CDU, urgent care centre, level 2 and 3 adult intensive care facilities, paediatrics, diagnostic services – MRI/CT/GEN/Nuclear Medicine, physiotherapy, a dedicated day surgery unit, and onsite pharmacy.

Our new modern Radiography department is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technology to include;

  • 4 MRI Philips scanners (3T, and 1.5T scanner)
  • Dedicated Extremity MRI Scanner
  • Two general X-Ray rooms
  • One fluoroscopy suite, which can also be utilised as an additional X-Ray room
  • One Cone Beam CT scanner
  • One Bone Density scanner with advanced body composition analysis capabilities
  • Two state-of-the-art mobile X-Ray units
  • Four theatre image intensifiers

How you’ll help us make health happen:

Reporting to the Head of Diagnostics you’ll be responsible for overall service performance, overseeing workforce planning, governance, quality assurance and operational delivery in our state-of-the-art MRI service within a leading acute hospital environment.

You’ll work closely with senior clinical and operational leaders, including the MRI Clinical Lead and MRI Cardiac Lead. You’ll ensure patients receive exceptional care whilst maintaining compliance with regulatory and MRI safety standards. You’re able to presentable influential figure, attending MR safety committee meetings and active in advisory and peer support.

Leading experienced multidisciplinary MRI team, you’ll ensure the delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality diagnostic services whilst championing outstanding patient experience and clinical excellence, staff engagement, quality improvement initiatives and supporting future growth within the department.


Other Responsibilities

  • Manage staffing, workforce planning and rota coordination to ensure effective service coverage.
  • Provide leadership and line management to senior MRI radiographers and clinical leads.
  • Drive service performance, efficiency and patient experience improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with MRI safety standards, MHRA regulations and hospital governance requirements.
  • Lead departmental quality assurance programmes, audits and service improvement initiatives.
  • Support CQC readiness and continuous regulatory compliance.
  • Work collaboratively with consultants, referring clinicians and international patient teams to deliver seamless patient pathways.
  • Monitor reporting KPIs and ensure appropriate escalation where required.
  • Oversee revenue integrity and ensure accurate documentation and charging of examinations.
  • Champion staff development, training, competency frameworks and annual appraisals.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

Essential:

  • B.Sc. Hons in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
  • Substantial, post-graduate experience in a relevant post in MRI.
  • HCPC state registration.
  • Knowledge of AI and optimisation.

Desirable:

  • Recent MRI Safety Course certification.
  • Experience commissioning or implementing MRI scanners.
  • Experience working towards Quality Standard for Imaging (QSI) accreditation.
  • Philips MRI experience.
