MRICS Building Surveyor

London / Nottingham | £45,000 - £60,000 + Benefits | Hybrid & Flexible Working

We're working with a well-established, independent construction consultancy with a history spanning more than 50 years and a growing Building Surveying team.

Due to an increase in work, this consultancy is looking for an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor to join their close-knit team in Nottingham. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a varied role across public and private sector projects, with the flexibility to work between London and Nottingham.

The Role

This is a genuinely varied Building Surveying position, with no two weeks likely to look the same.

You'll be involved in projects from initial inspection and investigation through to reporting, specification, procurement and delivery. The role will involve working closely with clients, contractors and other professional teams, giving you the opportunity to take ownership of your projects and develop strong client relationships.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out building condition surveys across a diverse range of properties
  • Undertaking defect diagnosis and building pathology investigations, identifying causes and recommending appropriate remedial solutions
  • Completing damp and mould surveys and preparing detailed technical reports
  • Undertaking planned preventative maintenance (PPM) surveys for education, healthcare and public sector properties
  • Carrying out measured surveys and producing drawings using AutoCAD
  • Preparing schedules of condition, specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation
  • Providing advice on repair, maintenance and refurbishment requirements
  • Acting as Contract Administrator on refurbishment and maintenance projects
  • Managing projects from inception through to completion, including monitoring programmes, costs, quality and risk
  • Assisting with procurement and tender exercises, including reviewing contractor returns and making recommendations
  • Carrying out regular site inspections and monitoring works against specifications
  • Investigating insurance claims and building defects, providing technical advice and supporting the claims process
  • Undertaking dilapidations surveys and reports
  • Preparing professional reports and presenting findings and recommendations to clients
  • Managing multiple instructions and projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Building and maintaining long-term relationships with clients and other project stakeholders

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
