We are looking for a Maintenance Controller to work within the BDUK Vertical Lift MRO Team in the delivery of Apache Phase Maintenance at Middle Wallop.

Reporting directly to the Support Manager, this is a key role which provides accountability and management of the Apache Phase maintenance events. This is enabled by having control, oversight and supervision of a multidiscipline team of maintenance control staff to carry out the planning, day-to-day oversight, and control of the maintenance event.

Responsibilities

MRO Maintenance controllers will be responsible for the delivery and execution of Phase Maintenance and/or modification upgrades on aircraft or multiple aircraft within the operational environment, all of which will be detailed as their responsibility boundary by the Support Manager

  • For the leadership of the Maintenance Planning and Control Team to deliver the assigned input
  • For ensuring their team understand the requirements, with regard to work undertaken/completed, having been carried out in accordance with the relevant planned work instruction, Engineering Instruction or ATP.
  • To ensure sufficient resource is available to meet aircraft schedule milestones and on time completion of work, with due consideration to HF (personnel, tooling and spares).
  • Customer interface during the aircraft maintenance event.
  • To manage the integration of emerging and agreed additional work within the scheduled work load.
  • To carry out 3rd Signature Co-ordination of maintenance packages
  • The control and management of defects (emergent work) arising from a Maintenance input or modification.
  • For creating and management of metrics to help track check performance including accurate daily reporting to Internal key stake holders and customer.
  • To participate in Continual Improvement workshops as a Subject Matter Expert, when required.

Examples of key tasks include:

  • Ensure safety of personnel working in and around the aircraft remains number 1 priority at all times.
  • Lead a multi-disciplined Operations support team encompassing aircraft maintenance planning, scheduling and documentation control functions.
  • Day-to-day monitoring and control of the operations team for the maintenance event.
  • Production, embodiment and adherence of the plan/schedule to deliver the aircraft to the customer on time with first time quality standard.
  • Control and management of defects (emergent work) arising from maintenance or modification.
  • Control of deferred maintenance and requests to Mil CAMO
  • Final Examination of tasks (3rd Signatory).
  • Acceptance/Rejection of additional work requests during maintenance event.
  • Management of the Aircraft/Component log books (MoD Form F700).
  • Certification of Maintenance documentation on MoD F700, GOLDesp, GOLDesp MRO as required.
  • Work package closure (GOLDesp MRO, MoD form 700, GOLDesp).
  • Scheduling and Chairing Post Inspection and Post Check Reviews.
  • Generating the Bill of Materials for each lot of aircraft.
  • Daily reporting on check progress to key stakeholders via tiered meeting structure.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Fluent written and spoken English

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Highly experienced in scheduled maintenance, repair and modification, with demonstrable experience of leading teams in an aerospace environment. Apache experience is desirable.
  • Have the ability to gain the required experience/competencies to gain 3rd signature authority.
  • A good communicator, technical and non-technical, with the ability to effectively engage across multiple Functions and levels, both internally and with the customer.
  • Demonstrable and proven working knowledge of MAA Regulatory Articles (RA), MAA Regulatory Publication (MRP) Part 145, aviation Quality Assurance (QA) and Safety Management System (SMS) processes, and the application of these requirements within their area of accountability, responsibility and authority
  • Capable of providing leadership to their team, in order to maintain a scheduled plan, the sequencing and control of demanding workloads, for on time completion and to the required standard
  • Capable of understanding and interpreting Technical Documents, Technical Drawings and/or associated Authorised Technical Publications (ATPs), to provide guidance to their team if necessary.
