The post holder will be working in a community outpatient clinic with other MSK Physiotherapists and will therefore be supported in managing a complex caseload including spinal pain. The community team is integrated to support cross-referrals to other therapy services and thus support holistic care for service users. The service is fully electronic and committed to improving digital access for service users.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

• To autonomously assess and diagnose patients with a diverse range of musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, or rheumatology conditions, using appropriate assessment/diagnostic techniques, skills, and tools
• To adopt a problem-solving approach, engaging patients and carers in their treatment plan, negotiating on agreed outcomes, gaining consent, and educating users on self-care.
• To evaluate and review treatment outcomes to facilitate discharge of patients.
• To deliver care in a range of settings including primary sites, clinics, GP surgeries, and acute hospitals as required.
• To work with members of the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure a seamless delivery of care, provide advice and education within this forum, acting as an expert in your own professional field.
• To continually review patients’ progress and refer as necessary to other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate care is provided.
• To plan and organise a caseload and implement effective administration in accordance with department guidelines on caseload management.
• To participate in the service's Clinical Governance initiatives and the development and implementation of standards, guidelines, and protocols.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Physiotherapy Degree/Diploma Physiotherapy
• Current UK HCPC Registered

Desirable criteria

• Membership of The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or any special interest group

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria

• Awareness of audit and evaluation
• MSK Outpatient experience
• Broad undergraduate experience in core clinical areas: MSK/Respiratory/Community Therapy/Neuro/Care of Elderly.
• Awareness of current NHS policies and issues which impact on the profession and the workplace
• Awareness of current issues or developments pertinent to own profession including legal frameworks.
• Have an understanding of clinical governance and how it applies to own work area
• Awareness of own knowledge and learning style
• Experience of working as part of a team
• Relevant clinical knowledge base underpinned by broader physiotherapeutic skills
• A good working knowledge of the NHS system of care. (Trained or worked in the NHS)

Desirable criteria
