The Role

Make an impact! As a Mobile Technical Services Chemist, you’ll organise and coordinate hazardous waste collections primarily for the University of Cambridge, plus additional facilities as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute waste collection from client sites, transporting waste to disposal sites as required.
  • Ensure a provision of packing materials is maintained on-site.
  • Adhere to all relevant legislation, including health & safety regulations and compliance protocols across client sites and waste disposal facilities.
  • Technically assess, segregate, label, and pack hazardous waste in line with UK legislation, verifying all documentation.
  • Compile and update waste collection lists, generating compliance documentation for disposal.
  • Load hazardous waste onto transport vehicles using equipment, then safely driver vehicles to disposal sites, off-loading them efficiently.
  • Carry out risk assessments at client sites.
  • Provide guidance and support to waste producers to ensure consistent waste management.

Job Requirements

  • Education & Knowledge:

    • Minimum HNC in Chemistry or related discipline.
    • Technical expertise in handling hazardous waste.
  • Experience & Skills:

    • Proven experience in packing hazardous waste for transport and disposal.
    • CAD/GestId e-Waste experience would be advantageous.
    • Computer-literate with strong administrative skills.
    • Ability to build and maintain customer relationships, identifying sales opportunities.
  • Personal Attributes:

    • Self-motivated, hardworking, and capable of working autonomously with minimal supervision.
    • Flexible, proactive, and adaptable, with a willingness to learn.

  • Licences & Certifications:
    • Must hold a EU driving licence for at least two years.
