✈️ MULTI-SITE OPERATIONS CONSULTANT – GREAT BRITISH FLYING CLUB
Freelance / Consultancy | 3–6 months | Approx. 2–3 days per week
We’re building something ambitious in UK general aviation — and we’re looking for an experienced multi-site operator to help us make it work brilliantly.
Great British Flying Club (GBFC) is creating a central network for flying training, bringing together individual flying schools and affiliated third-party operators under a common banner and booking platform.
The idea is simple: make it much easier for people to learn to fly, while helping local flying schools benefit from better systems, shared resources, consistent standards and economies of scale — without losing the local character and personality that makes a great flying club special.
The technology and central booking system are one part of the challenge.
Making it work consistently across multiple locations is the other.
As we roll GBFC out, we’re looking for an experienced freelance consultant / multi-site operations specialist to work alongside our team over the next 3–6 months.

You might come from an area management, regional operations, franchise, hospitality, leisure, retail or other multi-site background. Aviation experience would be useful, but it’s certainly not essential.
What matters more is that you understand how to take a successful concept and make it work across multiple locations and different teams.
You’ll help us with things like:
- Developing the GBFC operating model across multiple sites
- Supporting the onboarding and integration of new locations
- Creating practical, repeatable processes without unnecessary bureaucracy
- Helping recruit, train and develop local teams
- Establishing consistent customer service and operating standards
- Working out what should be centralised — and what should remain local
- Helping our existing team manage the challenges that come with rapid expansion
- Identifying problems early and helping us solve them
- Bringing experience, structure and some grown-up multi-site thinking to a fast-moving entrepreneurial business

We’re not looking for someone to write us a 100-page consultancy report.
We want someone practical, commercially minded and great with people who can get alongside the team, visit locations, challenge our thinking and act as a guiding light as we build the network.
The assignment is likely to last 3–6 months, with varying hours but averaging around 2–3 days per week. Some travel to our flying locations around the UK will be required.
This could particularly suit someone who has previously held a senior Area Manager, Regional Manager, Head of Operations, Franchise Operations or Multi-Site Operations role and now works independently or is looking for an interesting portfolio assignment.
