Job Overview
The Operational Estates department at Ysbyty Gwynedd is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Multi Skilled Building Craftsperson-Joiner. The successful candidate will be based at Ysbyty Gwynedd but may be asked to attend sites in the community under our control. This rare opportunity offers an individual the experience of working within a large healthcare estate.
You will have gained qualifications and previous experience within a Joinery role. The role is to assist with the maintenance of the Health Board’s property across the West and will participate in an on-call rota to cover Bank Holiday periods.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Multi-Skilled Building Craftsperson (Joiner), Ysbyty Gwynedd Bangor
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic self-motivated Multi-Skilled Building Craftsperson (Joiner) to work within a large organisation. You will have gained experience within the building craft environment.
You should have experience in joinery and wood working duties and must be able to work on your own initiative.
The successful candidate will be working at different locations and departments under our control in the West.
You should have completed a formal craft apprenticeship in a Building discipline and preferably have attained an academic qualification to NVQ Level 3 / Higher National Certificate.

Annual salary: starting at £28,819 to £31,626 after 3 years in post, this is excluding any on-call payment

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Indentured Building Craft Apprenticeship.
- Advanced Building Craft Certificate or equivalent.
- NVQ level 3.
- HNC/HND or equivalent level of knowledge and/or experience.
Desirable criteria

- Wood Machining Safety certificate.
- Advanced Module Certificate in fire door repair and maintenance.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of working within a multi-skilled building service industry with more than one area of craft discipline.
- Completion of a structured training programme in building services.
- Experience of working with woodworking machinery (Bench saws, planers etc).
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working within the NHS.
- Multi-disciplinary experience across a range of building trades.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willing to develop individual knowledge.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
Desirable criteria
- Motivation and persuasive skills.
- Welsh Speaking.
- IT/Keyboard skills.
Knowledge
Essential Criteria
- Higher level of knowledge and understanding of building maintenance construction/services/systems and a working knowledge of multi-skilled associated trades. Familiarity with approved guidance documents.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Health & Safety. HTMs, Building Regulations and ACoPs.
- Manual Handling Training.
- Working at Height training.
Personal qualities
Essential Criteria
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic, conscientious and resourceful.
- Participate in on-call duties.
- Available to undertake overtime.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in team leading.
