Role Overview

We are seeking a Technical Solutions Engineer who thrives on solving complex problems, developing new ideas, and improving existing processes. This is a hands-on engineering role involving R&D, equipment optimisation, packaging development, automation support, and cross-functional project work. You will play a key part in helping Mailway deliver smarter, faster, and more reliable packaging solutions to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and implement engineering solutions that improve packaging processes, line performance, and product quality.
  • Support R&D and NPD (New Product Development) activities, including trials, prototyping, and evaluation of new packaging formats or machinery.
  • Work closely with production, commercial, and operations teams to deliver cost-effective and efficient packaging solutions.
  • Assist with the integration, setup, and optimisation of packaging machinery and automation technologies.
  • Lead engineering investigations, identify root causes, and deliver corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide technical support for customer projects, including blue-chip FMCG clients and leading retailers.
  • Prepare engineering documentation: test reports, line set-up specifications, risk assessments, and technical drawings.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, OEE improvement, waste reduction).
  • Evaluate new tools, materials, or technologies that could benefit Mailway or our clients.
  • Ensure all engineering activities follow health, safety, and quality standards.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
