Role Description
The Multi Skilled Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based at the Emmi Desserts UK facility in Taunton. In this position, the engineer will carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on production and packaging equipment to minimize downtime and maintain product quality.

Daily Responsibilities

- Fault-finding on mechanical and electrical systems
- Performing safety checks
- Supporting line changeovers
- Documenting maintenance activities in accordance with site procedures
The engineer will collaborate closely with production, quality, and hygiene teams to improve equipment performance, support continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to root cause analysis for recurring issues. The role also involves:
- Identifying spare parts requirements
- Implementing engineering best practices
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and food safety standards
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience as a multi skilled engineer or maintenance technician in a manufacturing or food production environment, with strong mechanical and electrical competencies.
- Solid understanding of PLC-controlled machinery, automation systems, and basic diagnostics, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance principles, reliability-focused maintenance, and continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or 5S.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and safe systems of work within a factory or processing environment.
- Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NVQ, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline).
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, shift-based environment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with operators, supervisors, and other engineers.
- Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts as required, and an openness to ongoing technical training and professional development.
